Radio Frequency (RF) therapy also called radio frequency skin tightening, is a non surgical method of tightening the skin.
The treatment involves using an oscillating electrical current forcing collisions between charged molecules and ions, which are then transformed into heat, which in turn stimulates the production of Collagen in the deep layer of your skin known as your dermis layer.
Use of RF is typically reserved for deeper skin heating without causing ablation of the epidermis and dermis and is most used for the non-invasive skin tightening of lax skin (including sagging jowls, abdomen, thighs, and arms) as well as wrinkle reduction, cellulite improvement and body contouring.
As we age, our fat cells produce less collagen, which leads to sagging skin and wrinkles.
Collagen is the most common protein in your body. It is creating the framework of your skin and gives your skin firmness.
How does Radio Frequency work?
Radio frequency waves heat the deep layer of your skin to between 50-75 degrees centigrade.
Studies have found that maintaining a temperature over 46 degrees for over 3 minutes causes your body to release heat shock proteins. These proteins stimulate your body to create new collagen fibres.
The procedure normally takes less than an hour and is painless.
Radio frequency will continue to improve over the next few months as the skin produces new collagen. Results typically last for a minimum of 6 months, although with ongoing treatments, results are often long lasting.
Radio Frequency is a safe and effective method for improving skin appearance and decreasing subcutaneous fat. Especially in the abdomen and thighs.
