Tattoo Removal
DID YOU KNOW? In the UK, 30% of 18-35-year-olds have more than one tattoo!
However, 38% of people with body ink have opted to have it/them removed. Reasons for such a permanent step may include change of employment, the design is no longer relevant or meaningful, or the artwork has faded over time which, unfortunately, is a long-term consequence for tattoos.
A tattoo comprises of ink deposits positioned beneath the epidermis (outer layer) of the skin by a needle. Even though the ink won’t be removed as the skin sheds, specialist body cells called macrophage cells gradually absorb the ink and disperse it.
Laser Tattoo Removal is the most effective and safest treatment to remove
unwanted tattoos steadily but surely over a series of treatments – and believe it or not isn’t as uncomfortable as getting inked in the first place!
A laser pulses and the heat energy released breaks down the ink into tiny particles which are then absorbed into the bloodstream and safely expelled through the body’s lymphatic system!
The number of sessions (lasting from between10 to 30 minutes) required for a
successful removal will depend upon the size of the artwork, colour of design, skin type etc. On average, between 8 to 12 treatments will be necessary for successful results with an overall timeframe of between 1 to 2 years from start to finish. A downtime of 3 months per treatment is necessary for the worked area to heal as temporary blistering or swelling may occur. Colours including green, red, and light blue are the trickiest ink colours to break down as are neon shades.
The treatment is not recommended for those who are pregnant or sun-tanned skin or skin with a fake tan. The tan will have to fade before the treatment can begin.
