Image Usage Policy

This Image Usage Policy explains how you may use images from the Creative Touch website. It applies to any image on our website that displays share or embed icons. By using these features, you agree to comply with the terms below.

  • All images covered by this policy are owned by Creative Touch or used with appropriate permission.

  • Most images will include our logo or watermark, but not all.

  • Images are copyright protected under the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and related UK law.

Adobe Stock Images

Some images on this website are licensed from Adobe Stock by Creative Touch and are subject to separate copyright and licensing restrictions. Images from Adobe Stock must not be shared, embedded, downloaded, or redistributed by users in any form. Any attempt to do so violates Adobe Stock’s licensing terms and may result in legal action. If uncertain whether an image is available for sharing or embedding, please look for the share/embed icons or contact us for clarification.

2. Research Figures and Data Visualisations

For the images it covers, this section takes precedence over the Permitted Uses, Commercial Use, Attribution and Restrictions sections below.

Charts, diagrams, tables and other data visualisations published in our research and educational articles are a different class of image from the photography covered by the rest of this policy. We generate them ourselves from our own aggregate data. They contain no client photography, no identifiable individuals and no third-party or stock material, so the watermark, consent and Adobe Stock provisions elsewhere in this policy do not apply to them.

These figures are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). Under that licence you may:

  • Share, download and redistribute them, including as standalone files.

  • Adapt them: crop, recolour, translate, or build them into something else.

  • Use them commercially, including in news reporting, commercial publications and paid products.

The one condition is attribution. You must credit Creative Touch, state whether you changed the figure, and link to both the source article and the licence. A credit such as “Figure: Creative Touch (CC BY 4.0)”, linked to the article it came from, satisfies this.

What this licence does not cover. It covers the figure itself, meaning its design, layout and wording. It is not a licence to the underlying response data, which we publish only in aggregate and never at the level of an individual response, as set out in our privacy policy. It does not extend to our name, logo or trade marks, and it does not apply to any photograph, illustration or stock image elsewhere on this website.

This exemption applies only to figures we have explicitly marked as CC BY 4.0, either in the figure’s caption or in the structured data of the page carrying it. If a figure is not marked, assume it is not covered and ask us first.

3. Permitted Uses

You may:

  • Share, embed, or download images only if the image displays share/embed icons.

  • Use these images for personal, non-commercial, editorial, or educational purposes.

  • Use these images in blogs, social media, presentations, and similar contexts, provided you do not alter or remove any embedded logo or watermark if present.

  • Use high-resolution images and images for print for non-commercial purposes.

4. Commercial Use

Commercial use (including advertising, marketing, or use in products/services for sale) is not permitted by default.

If you wish to use an image for commercial purposes, you must contact us first to request a commercial licence: zoe@creativetouchrotherham.co.uk

Commercial use without explicit permission violates this policy and may result in legal action.

This section does not apply to research figures released under CC BY 4.0, which may be used commercially with attribution. See section 2.

5. Attribution

  • Please include a credit where possible, e.g. “Image courtesy of Creative Touch”

  • If you use our embed tools, attribution is often included.

  • When sharing on social media, please include a link to the image’s source page, our homepage or our social media account page.

For research figures released under CC BY 4.0, attribution is a condition of the licence rather than a request. See section 2.

6. Restrictions

You must NOT:

  • Remove, obscure, or alter any logo or watermark on the image.

  • Use images for unlawful, defamatory, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate content.

  • Use images in connection with adult content, gambling, tobacco, or similar restricted industries.

  • Use images to create or promote a trademark, logo, or merchandise without written permission.

  • Redistribute images as standalone files or make them available for download outside the intended share/embed tools. (Research figures under CC BY 4.0 are exempt: they are published as standalone files precisely so they can be reused. See section 2.)

  • Use images for AI/ML dataset creation, automated scraping, or bulk downloading. (Research figures under CC BY 4.0 are exempt, as CC BY permits any use subject to attribution.)

Many images feature our clients and have been used with their consent.

If you appear in an image and wish to have it removed, please email zoe@creativetouchrotherham.co.uk at any time. We will respond promptly and respect your wishes.

This policy is governed by UK law.

Unauthorised use of our images may result in takedown requests, legal action, or damage claims under UK copyright law.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website.

Continued use of our share/embed features after changes constitute acceptance of the new terms.
