How long does microblading last?

The procedure varies from person to person. A colour refresh is usually recommended from 12 to 18 months on average after your initial microblading procedure.

How long does it take to do?

Investing an hour or two of your time can make you beautiful for years. The procedure is divided into 2 appointments, 8 to 12 weeks apart, to allow for the healing process to complete. The initial procedure will take from 60 to 90 minutes, and your second appointment will take from 30-60 minutes.

Do I need a patch test?

All clients need a patch test at least 48 hours before the procedure. This can be posted if you live a long distance away.

Does the microblading application hurt?

We take every precaution necessary to ensure the micro-pigmentation application is as pain-free as possible. A wide range of medical-grade anaesthetics are used for your comfort. Some clients find the procedure a little uncomfortable, whereas others report no discomfort. We use a combination of 2 anaesthetics: a topical numbing cream followed by a local anaesthetic once the microblading procedure has started. The anaesthetic is topped up regularly during the treatment to keep you comfortable.

How long is the recovery or healing time?

You do not have to hide from the world until you heal. Many clients can walk straight out the door, ready to show off their new brows immediately. Initially stronger in colour, your new brows will soften to a natural-looking and beautiful colour in two to three weeks.

When will I see the final results?

A noticeable difference will be readily apparent following the microblading procedure. You will see your final results after the healing is complete, usually in two to three weeks.

How do you choose the shape?

We choose a shape and style together. At the beginning of the microblading procedure, Diane will draw in a suggested shape for your new brows. We then work together to perfect this to your preference, with measurements taken to check symmetry and position.

How do you choose a colour?

We choose a colour together by applying small amounts of different coloured pigments to the skin near your brows and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference.

What types of pigments do you use?

Cosmetics and medical tattooing are proven to be safe. Many medical professionals who perform their tattooing use the same pigments that we use. People have been placing colour in their skins for a very long time and over time, a generally accepted list of colour additives, which are expected to perform well, have proven safe. The FDA does not regulate the colours that are used in tattooing, nor do they regulate colours used in cosmetics. Our supplier’s ingredients for our inorganic pigments are iron oxides, distilled water, alcohol, glycerine and colour found in all retail makeup.

What will they look like immediately after the procedure?

Your brows may be a little swollen, red and sometimes a bit white. This is all very normal. They will be considerably darker for the first week before they fade out to a softer colour.

Will they fade?

Your skin changes over time and so will any permanent makeup colouration implanted into the skin layers. However, this natural fading process takes years and touch-ups are easily done as your colours fade over time.

Can I have my brows microbladed if I’m pregnant?

No, you cannot have this treatment done, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Does it hurt afterwards?

The area can be a little sore for the first few hours and then tender to the touch for a couple of days.

Will my Microbladed Eyebrows look fake?

NO! Semi-permanent makeup is done using a cosmetic tattooing process and our eyebrow pigmentation unique artistry guarantees soft, natural-looking eyebrows. When we implant semi-permanent makeup pigment in the skin, it appears more natural-looking than even topically applied cosmetics.

What if I don’t like it?

Although the procedure is considered semi-permanent, these procedures do have flexibility in changing colour and shape to some extent. Colours will appear much darker immediately following the procedure but will often soften and lighten during the healing process. The healing time is different for each individual and remember, it takes time to adjust to a new look!

Can you cover up other artists’ work?

When covering over old or bad work, the work in question needs to have faded enough to be able to cover correctly.

If funky colours are visible, then trying to warm too ashy a colour (greys and blues) or cool down too bright a colour like a salmon pink - never mind tackling a greeny olive 🫣 - is like putting a plaster over a wound that really needs stitches. Eventually the wound will weep through!

In a lot of ‘cover-up’ cases, removal of the old pigment first is the only option. Be careful of those that insist they can cover old work up. Look at their previous work and experience: are they good?!

From our many years of experience, we recognise that cover ups can be futile. So the question is: do you want perfect brows or a bodged cover up?

Are there any side effects during or after the procedure?

During the procedure, there may be some minor bleeding. This will depend on the client. If a person is taking blood thinners daily, then some slight bleeding may occur. Bruising is rare but if a person is on blood thinners, then bruising could occur. There is usually some tenderness for a few days. The colour is much darker than you may expect for the first six to ten days.
