During her amazing masterclass we managed to steal a few minutes to ask her some questions about brow design and her tips for aspiring brow artists.

- What are the factors to consider when choosing the right technique for a client?
So the right techniques for every individual client.. depend on what are they after. If they want a more flawless style, or more fluffy style. Every client will be different… depending on their skin tone, depending on what they want to achieve. So their eyebrows will be always different. So they need to talk to, obviously, the technician.
- How important is client consultation in the process and what key questions should technicians ask potential clients?
It’s important to see, obviously, the client especially when they are anxious. So they start to know you. So make sure they feel comfortable with you. Again, less is more for every individual client to start with. So you can see them face to face, what you’re dealing with, before you come into it, so you can give them an expectation of what you can do, etcetera, for them.
- What are the most common mistakes made by a new PMU Brow technician and how can these be avoided?
Common mistakes? [Going too heavy?] Yeah. It’s just obviously they have to start from somewhere. It’s good to practice on the practice skin before they go to work on the clients. Obviously, depending on where they train, who they train with… so much if they have good training and they feel confident to work on the client.
But a common mistake… obviously they will learn from their own mistakes, which is no bad thing, it’s a good thing.
There is so much to learn. They just will be learning from yesterday because there’s so much variety to learn about anything.
- What are the latest trends in brow shaping and designs? It’s got to be hyperrealism, really, isn’t it?
So, yeah, again every client will be different. Working with a more neater style, or undone… which is more fluffy. Sometimes you just see the clients when they come, see if they are more like…
- Would you say Hyperrealism’s the one trending at the minute?
I think hyperrealism won’t go out because you’re not working just with one tone… if you have a more neater or undone, yeah. So what is hyper realism… you’re working with the different tones.
- And how do you determine the ideal brow shape for a client’s facial features?
Golden ratio. Golden ratio. Golden ratio is for everyone. The shape is never the same. The facial pattern should not be the same because we are obviously all different and unique, so the shape is all different. Follow the golden ratio.
- What are some tips for achieving a natural looking brow?
Less is more, less is more.
