What is Aqualyx?
Aqualyx is a safe, effective fat-dissolving injection treatment that reduces fat cells in the treated area. It produces long-lasting results that banish those annoyingly wobbly bits.
Aqualyx can treat small exercise-resistant pockets of fat around the chin, chest, abdomen, thighs, knees and ankles. It is very effective for body contouring but is not a treatment for weight loss.
What is Aqualyx made from?
Aqualyx is refined in a lab environment from several different plant-based compounds.
How does Aqualyx work?
Aqualyx dissolves the membranes of fat cells in the treated area. The fat cells become unstable and break open. Macrophages (part of the body’s immune system) and the liver eliminate the fatty acids released by the dying fat cell.
What areas can Aqualyx treat?
Popular areas that we treat are double chins, moobs, saddle bags, inner thighs, cankles and abdomen - including defining a six-pack.
Is Aqualyx suitable for me?
If you are maintaining a healthy lifestyle and are close to your ideal body mass, but isolated and stubborn areas of fat persist, then Aqualyx might be suitable.
If you have significant fat deposits, then Aqualyx is not for you. The good news is that other body contouring treatments we offer may be.
If you have recently lost significant weight, the area concerning you may be loose skin, which we can improve with skin tightening treatments.
Aqualyx is not suitable if you:
- Have diabetes.
- Have liver or kidney disease.
- Have active skin problems in the area to be treated.
- Are using blood thinning medicine, e.g. warfarin.
How soon do you see results?
The number of Aqualyx treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. Typically 1-3 treatments for small areas, such as the jowls and under the chin, and 2-8 treatments for larger areas, such as the thighs.
Treatments are at 6 weekly intervals. Your result will show 6 weeks after your final treatment when you will have a complimentary review with your practitioner.
Are Aqualyx results permanent?
Whilst the body can regenerate fat cells - the process is slow. Localised fat cell removal means results are as good as permanent in that area.
However, your body will gain weight in other areas where fat cells remain if you do not maintain a healthy lifestyle.
What is involved in treatment recovery?
Immediately after treatment, you may appear red and swollen with some bruising on the treated area. Aqualyx works by causing an inflammatory reaction in the fat cells, which can result in swelling for 3-5 days.
If you intend to have an Aqualyx facial treatment where the swelling may be more obvious - e.g. on a double chin - you may wish to organise time away from work or social engagements.
You can reduce the swelling using cool packs wrapped in a clean cloth. Restrict the use of these to no more than 20 minutes each day.
Anti-inflammatory tablets work against the treatment, which relies on the body mounting an inflammatory response. Avoid such tablets for 48 hours after treatment.
The treated area may feel tender and firm up to 8 weeks post-treatment.
During recovery, we recommend that you avoid:
- Swimming pools, spas and saunas for 3 days.
- Physical exercise for 10 days.
- Any other aesthetic treatments for 2 weeks.
How do I know Aqualyx is safe?
Professor Pasquale Motolese, Vice President of the Italian Society of Aesthetic Surgery and Medicine, developed Aqualyx. He presented it at the Aesthetic Medical International Congress in Milan in 2004.
Aqualyx has CE approval for use in the UK, which means it meets the health and safety standards required by the European Union.
Since 2009, Aqualyx has administered more than 2 million times in over 49 countries. It has a strong safety record supported by sound medical science.
How much does Aqualyx cost?
At Creative Touch we charge £100 a vial.
Aqualyx for the belly area can consume 1 to 2 vials. A smaller body area like the chin will only consume 1 vial.
