Injecting a meso dissolver into a client's upper lip to remove migrated lip filler.

Have you ever experienced lip filler migration? It’s a common concern when the filler moves from its initial injection site, leading to an uneven and unnatural appearance. While frustrating, it’s reassuring to know that dissolving the migrated filler is a safe and effective solution.

What is Lip Filler Migration?

Lip filler migration occurs when the injected product shifts from its intended location within the lips. Migration can happen for various reasons, including:

  • Incorrect injection technique: Improper placement can increase the risk of migration.
  • Excessive filler amount: Too much filler can pressure the surrounding tissue, causing movement.
  • Natural facial movements: Over time, facial expressions like smiling and talking can influence filler movement.

Signs of Lip Filler Migration:

  • Lumps or bumps in unexpected areas of the lips
  • Uneven lip shape or asymmetry
  • Visible lines or ridges
  • Loss of definition in the lip border

Dissolving Lip Filler with Mesotherapy

The following video showcases a client at Creative Touch receiving a mesotherapy dissolve treatment to address migrated filler around her lips. This technique involves injecting an enzyme called hyaluronidase into the affected areas. Hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid (HA), the most common lip filler, allowing the body to absorb it safely and naturally.

In this instance, we used a weak saline/hyaluronidase meso mix. For complications, we would have used more hyaluronidase in the solution.

Safe Lip Filler Removal: Meso Dissolve Client Experience

Key Points from the Client’s Experience:

  • The client’s migration occurred due to incorrect placement and excessive filler use.

  • The meso-dissolve cocktail was injected 2cm away from, and perpendicular to, the lip line and linearly 3mm from the vermillion border (the edge of the lips).

  • Clients can return for fresh lip filler 1-2 weeks after a weak meso-dissolve treatment such as this (ordinarily 4-6 weeks post dissolve). This client was satisfied with simply removing the filler that had migrated into her top lip.

A few days after the meso dissolver was injected, the migrated filler has done its job and the client's lips look far more natural
After meso dissolver: the migrated filler has been removed and our client’s lips look so much better for it

Benefits of Mesotherapy Dissolve:

  • Safe and effective: Hyaluronidase is a naturally occurring enzyme, making it a safe way to dissolve HA fillers.
  • Targeted treatment: The enzyme specifically targets the filler, minimizing impact on surrounding tissues.
  • Quick results: The dissolving process takes effect within minutes, offering immediate improvement.

Remember:

  • Consult a qualified, experienced practitioner for safe, effective lip filler treatment and removal.
